Our Approach

We believe there are three ways we assist our clients in realising their aspirations of furniture pieces that inspire. In each instance, the same care, pride and meticulous attention to detail goes into their creation.

1. Pre-defined collections

We have created a huge amount of resources for each of our ranges, allowing our client and/or specifiers to select their ideal configuration and order directly from one of our many specification price guides. Simple and efficient.

2. A tailored solution

The most common approach customers take is to engage with the William Hands team and we will help you to create unique solution perfectly tailored to suit you individual/team requirements. Utilising our pre-defined collections as a starting point, we offer the ability to cross pollinate products, alter dimensions, add additional features – allowing our clients to employ their preferred finishes and materials to create a solution without compromise.

3. Bespoke

Our reputation for being able to offer a bespoke service is well known. With a design and engineering resource and dynamic team of highly skilled craftspeople, we have the ability to engage with any client looking to commission a truly one off piece or collection of furniture. Working closely with architects and designers, we pride ourselves in offering a consultative service to optimise and engineer any concept, turning the most creative visions into beautiful reality.

FSC UK is a registered charity. It is supported by NGOs including WWF, Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth and the Woodland Trust.
The BFM (British Furniture Manufacturers) is a trade association, employers’ organisation and consortia member of The Furniture, Furnishings & Interior Training Organisation (FFINTO). BFM has been representing the interests of the furniture industry for more than 50 years.
BFM has a broad based membership covering, domestic, contract, office and kitchen manufacturers as well as a number of suppliers to the industry and retailers.

BM Trada provides a framework for the development of an environmental management system and have awarded Hands for both 14001 and also 9001 for quality management system.
The Furniture Industry Research Association has tested and successfully certified much of the HANDS product range for strength, stability and surface resistance.
The Furniture Industry Sustainability Programme (FISP) has quickly become established as the trade’s premier forum on environmental and quality matters. A membership organisation, FISP was formed following suggestions from the then Government Department of the DTI and DEFRA. With governmental furniture procurement amounting to £1.4 billion a year, furniture trade associations were asked why there was no industry body devoted to matters such as sustainability, environmental management and chain of custody, like similar organisations in other industries.
